Type - Grist Mill, Condition - Site Only.

A beautiful place for taking photos of the old bridge crossing over the river. Also a very good place to take your children to swim. I gave it three stars because it doesn't offer camping or anything like that it's basically a daytime only for swimming and picnicking. Overall very clean little Park. With beautiful views of the river when you walk on the bridge. Excellent for photographers

Love to spend time here. Kids enjoy themselves and I can relax.

We loved this rustic, little park nestled into the bend of the Big River. Although we weren't equipped to do this, we were told by another park goer that you can put a tube/raft in by the boat launch and lazily float around to the rapids, then get out walk back to the boat launch and repeat. There is also a great rope swing hanging under the old bridge -- but beware the water is not very deep, only drop in feet first. We found this park on a search to find an out of the way place to watch the 2017 Solar Eclipse and it was an amazing time!

Location: (H 5) MORSE MILL, B rd & EE rd., on Big River.

Comments: The town of Morse Mill, Missouri, was named for industrialist, John H. Morse, who settled in that area in 1847. Mr. Morse, a farmer and miller, came from Massachusetts and settled near the Big River about six miles northwest of Hillsboro. Morse built a majestic gristmill, which was the most prosperous and longest operational mill in southeast Missouri. Today the gristmill is but a brick foundation sitting on the riverbanks in a decaying town. Closed during the depression, the mill was torn down in the 1940s. The flood of 1993 washed away much of what was left of Morse Mill. Only foundation and dam remain. Photo: any time.

Great place to relax and do a short float at the morris mill park..and super close to Illinois
